Mr. Saggy Butt Is Safe
Florida is officially a safe strolling grounds for the title character from Paul's song "Mr. Saggy Butt."
A judge has ruled unconstitutional the "saggy pants" law in Riviera Beach, Florida, and a public defender is trying to get the ban on droopy drawers tossed out for good.
"Somebody help me," Palm Beach Circuit Judge Paul Moyle said of a case in which a teenager was jailed for having his underwear showing above his low-riding pants, according to the Palm Beach Post. "We're not talking about exposure of buttocks. No! We're talking about someone who has on pants whose underwear are apparently visible to a police officer who then makes an arrest and the basis is he's then held overnight, no bond. No bond!"
What's the penalty for wearing saggy pants? According to the paper:
A first offense carries a $150 fine or a requirement of community service; only habitual offenders face the possibility of jail time.
Justice prevails again.
