"The Cul-de-Sac Kids"  Lyrics

1.  The Cul-de-Sac Kids  © 2010 Paul Rogers/ DumDitty Music  BMI

When the Cul de Sac kids all come running

it's time to play!

C'mon now, let's get some fun in

It's a sunny day

Everybody's gonna get their skateboards out

Everybody's gonna play some Tic Tac Toe

We're the coolest kids you'll ever meet

Living' in a circle at the end of the street

When the Cul de Sac kids all come running

It's time to play...It's time to play!

When a car comes in you can't go running

if a ball is tossed.

til they just say fooey and pull a "U" ey

and drive out just as lost

Here comes Sally and Michael and brother Dan

everybody's gonna play some Kick The Can

We've got kids of the happiest sort

Right here in Starling Court

When the Cul de Sac kids all come running

it's time to play!

It's time to play!

Ooh, yeah, yeah

They don't drive up, they don't drive down

They only come in and go 'round and 'round

The Cul de Sac Kids are flipping their lids

all over town

When the Cul de Sac kids all come running

it's time to play!

C'mon now, let's get some fun in

On a Saturday

Everybody's gonna have a Tug 'o War

Everybody's gonna skip a little rope

I got some water in a big balloon

I'm gonna drop it on you really soon!

When the Cul de Sac kids all come running

It's time to play!

It's time to play!

2. Sick Of Being Sick    © 2010 Paul Rogers DumDitty Music/ BMI

I'm Sick of Being Sick!

sick of feeling yucky

feeling like my lucky stars are not doing what they should

Feeling kind of blue

looking kind of pasty

hoping for a hasty turn around to feeling good

And I do believe I feel a little better when youÕre singing me a silly song

I'm Sick of Being Sick

I won't be sick for long

I'm Sick of Being Sick!

feeling kind of crummy

something in my tummy might be heading for the sink

I didn't go to school

Just lying on the sofa

IÕm content to loaf around Ōtil IÕm back in the pink

But I do believe I feel a little better when you sit and hug me tight

I'm Sick of Being Sick!

but I'll be alright

Everything's a funny sound, I don't want my friends around

            IÕm just a cranky head

I donÕt want to run and play, think IÕd really rather stay

            In my bed instead

I'm Sick of Being Sick!

It started with a fever

Mommy says believe her when she says I need my rest

I guess IÕll go to sleep

And try a bit of dreaming

With a little steamer steaming all night just might be whatÕs best

And I do believe I feel a little better when she tucks me in at night

I'm Sick of Being Sick!

But I'll be alright.

3. Make Our Way  © 2010 Paul Rogers  DumDitty Music/ BMI

Down this road is a pot of gold

and I've been told

it's there for taking

if you've a got a dream and a clever scheme

You can make your way in the world

Around this bend is a foe or friend

and I won't pretend

to know who's coming , but with

every turn , there's a chance to learn

how to make your way in the World.

We're gonna make our way

We're  gonna make our way in the world

We're gonna make our way

We're  gonna make our way in the world

We're gonna take our dreams

And tie 'em to a star

With our heads up high, it isn't very far

Fortune lies somewhere right before our eyes.

Beneath this hat is a clever cat and the feeling that

I won't be scratching my way around

I know were bound

to make our way in the world

We're gonna make our way

We're  gonna make our way in the world

We're gonna make our way

We're  gonna make our way in the world

4. Cat Chat  © 2010 Paul Rogers  DumDitty Music/ BMI

They chit and chat about their cats

"My cat did this, my cat did that"

There's an empty place where I once sat

'cause I won't hear another word 'bout that cat

Tabby goes and looks back in

then come back in to go out again

It's a crazy game that you can't win

"Oh, look that cute little Cheshire grin"

Then he hides in my dirty clothes

Sneak attacks upon my toes

Waits until I'm sleeping so

He can sit and purr beneath my nose

CHORUS

Little Tabby's run away

Juniper jumps in the kitchen sink

The only place he'll take a drink

Lately I've begun to think

Our Kitty Cat needs a Kitty cat shrink

He scratched the back of a brand new chair

The couch is covered with all his hair

I'm sure our guests don't really care

So we leave it there for them to wear

CHORUS

Little Toby's in the window

Cleo got a bluejay!

I've got a bracelet full of  kitty cat charms

One for every sweet little dickens

Little angels on the arms

Of a sweater I knitted for Mr. Wickens

CHORUS

Cowboy's got a furball

5. Only Mom  © 2010 Paul Rogers DumDitty Music/BMI

Where are the Wild Things now ?

And how do I get there?

What will I need to know

To get along?

Why does the wind blow so?

When it does, where does it go?

How will I ever grow

To be that strong?

Only Mom knows the answer to that

Only Mom knows the answer to that

Why the leaves change color and the sky is blue

And I don't always do what she wants me to

Only Mom, Only Mom

Only Mom knows the answer and I better not wake her for that.

Do I have to wear these boots?  (yeah, yeah)

Is it gonna rain all day?    (no, no)

Will I ever get to play

Outside again?

Why is everything going wrong?

Why is everybody picking on me?

Can't I just be left alone

To do what ever I want to?

Only Mom knows the answer to that

Only Mom knows the answer to that

Why I feel so bad when I swing and miss

And she makes it all better with a hug and kiss

Only Mom, Only Mom

Only Mom knows the answer and I better not wake her for that.

            'Cause she always telling me

            Wait for what tomorrow brings

But tomorrow always takes so long.

And I wonder if the things I do that drive her crazy now

Will be the things she misses when I'm gone

If I ever to find a book

With everything there is to know

I hope there's always left for me

 One more page to turn

As the years go flying by

Will my eyes stay open wide?

Will I always wonder why

There's so much to learn?

Only Mom knows the answer to that

Only Mom knows the answer to that

Why she gets so worried when I don't come home

And her eyes got teary when I read this poem

Only Mom, Only Mom

Only Mom knows the answer and I better not wake her for that.

Better not wake her up

Better not wake her up

6. Grounded One More Time  ©2010 Paul Rogers, Jonny Rogers  DumDitty Music/ BMI

Sitting in my bedroom tonight

Just got grounded one more time

Went to get a kiwi and lime

Just got grounded one more time

Dad said I couldn't go

Unless he said so

He said I had to stay

But I went anyway

Sitting in my bedroom tonight

Just got grounded one more time

Guess I should have stayed here at home

Now I'm sitting all alone

Didn't do what my Dad said

Now my social life is dead

Maybe I'll be sitting here

All the way until next year

Sitting in my bedroom tonight

Just got grounded one more time

I sang that song six years ago

Sounds like a little kids I don't know

I can't believe that was really me

Sounds like some kind of Peewee

Now if I ride down to the park

I might stay there 'til after dark

If I do I'm gonna pay the fine

I'm gonna get grounded one more time

Sitting with my crayons and toys

Wish that I could make some noise

Guess I should have stayed here at home

Now I'm sitting all alone

Dad said I couldn't go

Unless he said so

He said I had to stay

But I went anyway

Sitting in my bedroom tonight

Just got grounded one more time

Now I'm sitting all alone

Just got grounded one more time

Just got grounded one more time

7. Kursten, Kristen, Kiersten and Karl  © 2010 Paul Rogers DumDitty Music/ BMI

Oh Kursten and Kristen and Kiersten and Karl

went off to Carnival Day

Kursten said "Kristen, I think Karl's kissing

Kiersten behind the arcade"

Then Kristen was crying while Kursten was trying

to cheer the poor girl up some how

and Karl said "Kiersten, I thought you were Kristen

or I wouldn't be kissing you now"

Three pretty sisters that all look the same

Each lovely lady with a similar name

One lucky fella who'll love only one

Which lovely sister? Now the guessin's begun

Then Kiersten said "Karl, forget about Kristen

You could be happy with me

My two other sisters are looking for misters

much older and richer than thee"

While Kristen said "Kursten, though my heart is burstin'

I'll be loved for just who I am

And  Kursten said " Kiersten, forget about Karl

You'd be better which a Charlie or Sam

Three pretty sisters that all look the same

Each lovely lady with a similar name

One lucky fella who'll love only one

Which lovely sister? Now the courtin's begun

Then Karl told Kiersten "I must go find Kristen

and tell her how silly I've been"

Kiersten said "Karl, with a bit of a snarl

If you do, you'll not kiss me again"

Then Kiersten saw Kursten and what is worse, then

she saw Karl fall in her arms

Karl said "Kursten, I think it's for certain

Our plan has worked like a charm!

CHORUS

9. The Whole Week Long  © 2010 Paul Rogers DumDitty Music/ BMI

I come from the village of Merrydale

where the air is fresh and clean

and the laundry swings in the summertime breeze

over the fields of green

But at school I wear a coat and pants to match

And on each knee a sewn on patch

A single pair of underwear

to last the whole week long.   Singing.....

Three Days In and Three Days Out

That's how we wear our knickers now

Inside out, shake them all about

to last the whole week long

"Master  Tommy"..

We have'n't any money for pencils

We haven't any money for ink

And before we sup, we all cue up

for a scrubbing at the sink

But it's the simple things you miss

and most of all is this

In me undie drawer, there was always more

that me Mum had washed before

We're singing now..

CHORUS

On Sunday, that's the one day

we get a brand new pair

            Come Monday, that's one day

There's five more days to wear

            our underwear

If you do well on your essays

You'll get a fine reward

A ginger cake that cook will bake

And tea with Master Ward

But the best part of your day will be

When they hand you a package from the school's laundry

A month's supply of BVDs

And a month without this song

CHORUS

10. Stop The Haircut  © 2010 Paul Rogers DumDitty Music/ BMI

Where did Jonny go?

Someone said just down the street

Said he had to take the plunge

Into the barber seat

Dad said it's way too long

He can't take it anymore

They're gonna have to cut it off

Let it fall down to the floor

Stop the haircut    c'mon you guys lets go

Stop the haircut    'cause Jonny's in trouble you know

Stop the haircut     we've got to run down there right now

Stop the haircut      He's our buddy, we've got to help him somehow

There he is, chair number three

Trying so hard not to cry

C'mon fellas, there's not much time

You know he's do it for you or I

Jimmy and Tommy, wait right here

I think I've got a plan

When you see the lights go out

Run in yelling as loud as you can

Stop the haircut   Yeah, yeah! Nobody move!

Stop the haircut  We're taking our pal and there's nothing you can do

Stop the haircut   Hold it right there mister, put those clippers down.

Stop the haircut   C'mon Jonny, We can't hang around

Uh oh, there's my Dad

And Tommy's too

Waiting for haircuts

It looks like the fun is through

There's a buzz cut waiting for me right now

In barber chair number one

Little tommy's sitting in number two

About to get the same thing done

11. Talking To The Steering Wheel  © 2010 Paul Rogers DumDitty Music/ BMI

Can't you see my mouth is moving?

Can't you see I'm talking to you?

Won't you tell me how you're doing?

Tell me who you're talking to.

Tweet, Tweet   Twitter this

Twitter that your Dad is here

Tell your friends   C U Later

I promise you they won't disappear

Plugged in tuned out

Sometimes I feel  (Hello)

Like I'm talking to the steering wheel

G2G  Text me later

LOL Don't be a hater    (TT4N) Don't be a hater

Is there anything you'd like to talk about?

'd like to know what's going on

I've only get a couple minutes with you

When we get home, you'll be gone

So pull those headphones off your head

Try to listen to me instead

Can you even hear what I'm saying?

Now tell me what I just said!

CHORUS

G2G, I'm free this weekend

DIF,   (Dad is Freaking)

I got a text from my daughter, she was at the store

by the time I read it, got 13 more

Couldn't find a way to just type "OK"

Probably would've taken me the rest of the day

If I had to take a test in texting, I would fail

Finally called her up, it went straight to voice mail

Oh, Dad, talkin' is passe

Nobody ever uses their phone that way

CHORUS

MYB  (Miss Ya Badly)

LYM  (Love Ya Madly)

12. Carried Me  © 2010 Paul Rogers  DumDitty Music/ BMI

To the ones that loved and carried me

you are always by my side

Every road I take, every step I make

May you always be my guide

Sail Away, Sail Away

To a place where souls are free

And I keep a prayer upon my lips for the ones who loved and carried me.

Every tender word, every sweet caress

was made to help me shine

Every fear I faced, was soon erased

by your strength that became mine

Drift Away. Drift away

to a place in memory

and I keep a picture near my heart of the ones who loved and carried me.

Carried me

Carried me

Carried me home

For the ones that loved and carried me

I am giving what they gave

to the ones I bring into this world

who walk the path they made

Far away, Far away

I can hear a melody

And I keep the voices in my head of the ones who loved and carried me
